Iranian Deputy Despot Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has indicated in a speech today that he wants to conduct talks with President Barack Obama. However, he doesn't want to have the normal discussions that involve seeking privacy behind closed doors and compromising. He wants a completely open meeting which, beginning to end, is monitored by and reported on by the international media. He likely wants a bully pulpit upon which to verbally cane Obama. Should Obama agree to such talks?

I don't think we should give the little bearded prick the opportunity to talk publicly to us.

Agreed! He should be severely marginalized, if not sent on a sudden and 'permanent vacation'! We should not give him any opportunity to seem legitimate!

After the fraudulent election and subsequent slaying of Iranian protesters Obama should not converse with Iran. Period. Suck some life's blood out of them with sanctions. Hit them where it hurts. Oil.

Dialogue at this point would be a huge mistake for the US. There is nothing to talk about. Iran has made it very clear over the past few weeks what they are willing to do and what they are unwilling to do.

I second your motion, no way will President Obama lower himself that way.

No Drama Obama doeswant the world to know about Iran, in its fullest, but

not in the manner which Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wants.

Demanding public talks? Ahmadinejad doesn't talk or converse, he dictates.

and then Ahmadinejad is dictated to by the fundamentalist clerics...Iran will

have its own Civil War coming real soon. President Obama knows it. We know it.

good article/seed

I think he should but not in Iran and not moderated or censored by Iranian clerics. Obama would completely OWN ahmadinejad in a real debate.

Hell, even W. would own ahmadinejad.

Label opinion as opinion Scott. The picture alone indicates that this is an editorial commentary, not a news story.

I suppose you're right. I marked it so because I was conveying an event, which is Ahmadinejad demanding public talks.

It's not like I disagree with the opinion, it's just that if I'm going to call people for this (and I do, routinely) I need to be evenhanded about it, that's all.

There is nothing wrong with good conversation and clear opinion on all subjects

I think this is a perfect subject for all of us to express our thoughts, ideas and

facts...all in one fell swoop!

Talk must happen otherwise it is just pure speculation what one or the other might say. The lines of communication can only happen when someone speaks and another replies.

As long as President Obama is completely protected and the likelihood of assassination guaranteed to be at it's utmost minimum for either man, I think open dialogue should be encouraged.

Study the tapes Mr. President, become familiar with Ahmadinejad's tactics and bullying ... be prepared and do the best you can. We expect no more nor will we accept any less as a people looking towards it's leader to lead. Perfection is not required as who really can achieve it. Not mortal man, that's for sure, of course this is my most humble opinion.

I'm of two minds about this. On one hand, I hate to even recognize someone like Mahmoud. On the other hand, I'd like Obama to publicly embarrass and thrash him which Iranians can then view in its entirety on the Internet.
